Mexico City, November 8, 2020.- So far nine federal entities, including Querétaro, have had an epidemic increase in Covid-19 in recent weeks, of which seven have a resurgence effect, said José Luis Alomía, director of Epidemiology.

“We call them the resurgence effect because at the time this increase in their epidemic curve that they had had in recent weeks had already surpassed its first or second peak, that is, they have an upward trend and it is greater than that observed in previous peaks” , he explained.

These are Chihuahua, Durango, Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Coahuila, Querétaro and Zacatecas.

He specified that this resurgence effect does not necessarily mean that the Entity is at maximum risk because in previous behavior it could have been in orange and remain in orange.

In some entities, such as Chihuahua and Durango, they did go to maximum risk and are at a red light.

He indicated that in week 44 there is a decrease in the epidemic, which is also seen in entities with a resurgence.

“However, this decrease is still not marked enough to say that there is already control as such,” he said. He said that these tests will be implemented in the health units that monitor respiratory diseases, which are the ones that manage the sentinel model for influenza surveillance; There are 475 units.

He indicated that the purchase of rapid antigenic tests to detect Covid-19 is also planned, the result of which is obtained in 15 minutes.

Before, he stated, they will test the 200 rapid antigenic tests that will be donated to the country by PAHO-WHO.

He added that these tests cost 30 percent less than PCR tests.

He added that PCR tests are purchased by the Government for 280 to 300 pesos per test, with consolidated purchases.
