SG Diagnostics COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit (Colloidal Gold Based) is a lateral flow immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein antigen in direct swabs from suspected persons of COVID-19 by your healthcare provider.

Virus General Description

The new coronavirus SARS-COV-2 is the pathogen causing the global COVID-19 pandemic that has spread to 219 countries. Most infected people will experience mild to severe respiratory illness and recover without special treatment. The most common symptoms are fever, cough and fatigue. Older people and those with underlying medical problems (e.g., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and cancer) are more likely to develop serious illnesses, and serious symptoms include shortness of breath or shortness of breath, chest pain and loss of speech or movement. It usually takes 5 to 6 days for symptoms to appear in a person infected with the virus, but in some people it can take up to 14 days.

Working Principle of Lateral Flow Test

The SG Diagnostics COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit is an immunochromatographic membrane assay that uses highly sensitive antibodies to detect SARS-CoV-2 spike and nucleocapsid protein antigens from swab samples via the double antibody sandwich. After loading, the sample will diffuse upward from the loading end by capillary action, and then the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid and spike protein antigens in the sample will combine with the antibody on the pad. marker to form a colloidal gold antigen-antibody complex; The complex continues to diffuse upward to the nitrocellulose membrane with the sample, and is then blocked with the antibody-packaged test line (T) to form a colloidal gold-labeled immune-antigen-antibody complex. The rest of the unlocked colloidal gold complex continues to move upward and combines with the Control (C) line (quality control line),

Test Procedure

Note: The test cassette should be at room temperature before use and the test should be operated at room temperature.

Place and immerse the patient swab in the sample eluent for 10 seconds and then stir well by rotating the swab against the side of the vial 5 times.
Remove the swab from the patient while squeezing the middle of the sample eluent vial to remove liquid from the swab. Dispose of the swab in biohazardous waste.
Firmly attach the dropper cap to the top of the sample eluent vial.
Gently invert the sample eluent vial five times just before applying the sample to the test cassette.
Apply the sample removed from the sample eluent vial to the loading port of the test cassette. To do this, gently press the sides of the sample eluent vial to add 4 drops (about 80 μL) of the extracted sample to the loading hole of the test cassette. The sample will then be drawn by capillary action onto the test strip.
Start and time and read the results after 10 minutes. The result is invalid after 15 minutes.
Discard the swab, sample eluent vial, and test cassette in the appropriate biohazard waste.

Interpretation of results

Note: On a tested and valid device, a red line appears at the control line position, confirming that the sample has flowed through the test strip and that the reagents are working.

The test results are analyzed as follows:

Negative
A negative sample will give a single red control line in the upper half of the window, indicating a negative result. This control line means that the detection portion of the test was performed correctly, but no COVID-19 antigen was detected.

Impact
A positive sample will give two red lines. This means that the COVID-19 antigen was detected. Samples with low levels of antigen may give a faint sample line. Any visible red sample line is positive.

Not valid
If no lines are seen, if only the red test line is seen, or if the red control line is not seen, the assay is invalid. Invalid tests must be repeated.
